It's MAGIC

There are a couple of “magic” techniques that can add so much to our knitting. In this workshop we are going to explore all the ways we can use two amazing magics: Magic Loop and Judy’s Magic Cast On. We will learn how we can work circularly making any circumference without going to double pointed needles. You’ll be able to make sleeves, hats, socks or any small item in the round. Next we will explore the many uses of Judy’s magic cast on. Although many have heard of this cast on for a toe starter, did you also know it can be used for an amazing provisional cast on (keeping the stitches live) as well as the greatest tubular cast on ever! Come on, add a little magic to your knitting!

Skill Prerequisite:

Should know how to knit, purl, cast on, bind off. Experience in one other method of working in the round helpful. Some passing knowledge of magic loop helpful. PLEASE REVIEW - Must know long tail cast on in sling shot position (Must review here) - http://bit.ly/longtailslingshot - Tips for Magic loop Ask Patty Magic Loop tips - https://www.moderndailyknitting.com/2020/08/19/ask-patty-magic-loop-solutions/

This class was excellent. I've been knitting magic loop, and DPNs, for years, decades. But Patty always manages to teach me something new that makes my knitting better AND more fun to do. It's inspirational, not just useful. I always end up excited to start my next project. That certainly happened with this class.

This course was EXACTLY what I was hoping it would be, and I'll be recommending it to every knitter I know! For a couple months now I've been attempting to get my knit gauge to loosen up and match my purl gauge (I knit Portuguese style) but I've had a difficult time finding a resource that explained the mechanics of what was going on. "Just loosen up" (advice from elsewhere) resulted in everything getting looser, but the knit gauge still being tighter than my purl gauge. This class, along with Patty's "Improve Your Knitting Alternative Methods and Styles" class, gave me the crucial information I was missing, and I couldn't be happier. The information about stitch manipulation, economy of movement, ergonomics, etc. was also incredibly valuable. It's going to take a while to re-train my hands but I really feel empowered by the information Patty provided, and the attitude she encouraged us to adopt. Some peoples knitting improved during the lecture - mine didn't, but it's just taken me a couple days of practice to catch up! It's also going to be SO valuable that I'll be able to re-watch the videos, because I know that just 1 pass wasn't enough to absorb everything. I really appreciate that Patty has set it up like that. I really cannot recommend this class enough!

Patty is an excellent teacher! Unlike some of my classmates, the improvement in my knitting wasn't immediate--I had to practice for quite a while on my own, after completing the course--but I definitely learned a lot from the Build a Better Fabric course! I have been using Patty's tips and methods to practice, and am now having improvement, plus some "A-hah!" moments. Patty is very good at giving clear explanations and helping students grasp the knitting concepts behind each style or technique, so you can thoroughly understand how it works and why it works--and solve related future problems on your own. I highly recommend Patty as a teacher!
